WELCOME TO  EOD/DIVING OPERATIONS TRAINING 2008!

The EOD/DIVING OPERATIONS TRAINING 2008 is designed to introduce the USNSCC cadets to the opportunities available with the EOD and Diving & Salvage forces of the US NAVY.

The mission statement of the EOD and Diving & Salvage units is to provide combat ready forces to the Fleet.  This special group of elite technicians are trained to eliminate ordnance hazards that jeopardize any operation, clear harbors and approaches of obstacles, and salvage/recover ships, aircrafts and weapons lost or damaged in peacetime or combat.

During the summer of 2003, USNSCC cadets were privileged to be trained by EOD TECHNICIANS and DIVERS; and later were able to participate firsthand in a mission at the end of the week, by applying what they learned.

The first training in the summer of 2003 was so successful, that we provided two trainings in 2004.  The second EOD/Diving Operations training with EOD and MDSU Group Two, in the East Coast, took place at the Naval Amphibious Base of Little Creek, Virginia.  The other training took place in the West Coast, with the EOD Group One of the Pacific Fleet, in Coronado, San Diego, California.

This summer of 2008 we are again invited for the sixth consecutive time to train with EOD OSU GRU 10 and MDSU GRU Two, in the East Coast at Fort Story and the Naval Amphibious Base of Little Creek, Virginia. As last year, we will have three weeks of training. EOD the first week, MDSU the second week, and SCUBA the third week.

The material and information contained in these web pages will allow the cadets to know what to expect.  The information will help the cadets to be prepared beforehand, if they are interested in attending this training.

It is the cadet's, the parents', CO's, XO's, and Training Officers'  responsibility to read carefully the information given. The cadet deserves to have a good productive experience.

It is important that all the instructions are understood from the beginning in order to avoid  "sent backs,"  "mishaps," and  "disappointments."  EOD TECHNICIANS and DIVERS are volunteering their time and expertise, in times of war, to provide them with a unique learning opportunity. We can do no less.

EOD/Diving Operations training is a challenging program.  The preparation and information provided in this web site will ensure a great learning and growing experience for the cadets.  They will also learn to appreciate the knowledge, dedication, and skills, of the NAVAL EXPEDITIONARY COMBAT COMMAND forces.

We are looking forward for another outstanding three weeks of training again this summer.

              Sincerely,

LTJG  John C. Ortiz, COTC  USNSCC EOD/DIVING OPS
